P L A Y I N G . C A T C H . U P .

If you're a fan of my facebook page you've already seen these.  If not, you're missing out on these sneak peaks plus more... so head over there and "like" me!
Things have been hectic, 2 toddlers and a newborn are no joke... but I'm loving every minute.  Monster energy drinks have become my new craving and get me through the long nights of editing and during the day we are soaking up every bit of summer we can! Blogging, however, has been on the back burner.

P.S. You can view the rest of this session at the Loveliest Day.  Thank you for the feature!  Bookmark this lovely wedding planning/inspiration blog now!

This is so cool! You have to watch it, she is such a talented artist.  I think it is inspiring watching another person create and I am flattered that she was inspired by one of my photos of the beautiful Mele from her senior sesh.

W E D D I N G S . W E B S I T E . I S . L I V E .

Inspiration board and color palette.

I get bored easily, really really easily.
It's a blessing and a curse.
In fact, I had started designing a site a few weeks ago, got bored with it and started all over again designing a new one.  I had to make new custom elements and graphics including hand drawn feathers.

I think I'll stick with this one for a while, until I get bored again and then feel the need to change it up.  Thank goodness I use Showit to design my site because I can change things up whenever boredom strikes.

I've used the first site I designed for my portrait site, no sense letting a few weeks of work go to waste,
so be sure to check that out as well!

Fashion Friday: Couple's Retreat.

My brother-in-law is tying the knot and asked me to give them ideas for outfits for their engagement pictures based on the color red. Now, I'm no fashionista, AT ALL, most days you can find me in skinny jeans, an over-sized Bob Marley tee and slippers or flats. None the less, here are a two looks I put together for them. Something casual and something more dressy.

I am in love with the whole denim revival, something about it is so summery and vintage.
Check out The Gap for cute denim looks

or even your local thrift store or even an online vintage/thrift shop.
One of my faves is Bleubird Vintage!

Fashion Friday: Colorful Cardis!

I often get asked, "What should we wear for our shoot?" So, in hopes of helping some of you here is the first installment of Fashion Friday.

I love to help guide my clients in picking something that is stylish, fits with my editing style and comes across nice in pictures.

I'm loving brightly colored cardis right now. Lime green, Aqua, Navy Blue, Peach... It adds such a nice pop of color plus an additional layer for visual interest in your pictures!

You can even wear a cardigan with your wedding dress!! Are you kidding me, LOVE it!

Head over to Old Navy because they have super cute Cardis on sale for $15!

Ace of Cakes and Creative Pow Wow.

Did you all watch this episode of Ace of Cakes with guest Haloti Ngata. They make a cake for the Baltimore Ravens, a really cool 3D Raven. I missed it because we were at WPPI but I caught a re-run, which my husband tells me are on all the time, so catch one if you missed it on the Food Network! I love Ace of Cakes and Cake Boss and pretty much any show that combines creativity and pastries!

There is an immense amount of pride you get from creating something. I think everyone should have at least one source of a creative outlet, whether it be making cakes, drawing, painting, sewing, jewelry-making, scrapbooking, etc.

The next step would be to share it with someone... so this had me thinking of having a Creative Pow Wow.... we'd meet every couple of months, eat some yummy snacks, talk, have fun and exchange something we've created like a gift exchange! If you're interested in joining the Creative Pow Wow then email (info@kayleent.com) me and we'll get this going!

Here are some pix of me and the hubs in Las Vegas for WPPI. I hardly took out my camera, in fact this was the only time I did.

So inspired! The Lyonshop Las Vegas

I have just returned from a fun, info-filled day with the Lyons, my favorite wedding photographers. I leave the day full of inspiration. I admire they're flow and ease working side by side as a husband and wife photography team... it makes me want to bring my husband along to shoots, (he is artistic, draws and does tattoos so I think he would be a great fit!)

Amelia has shown me that I need to manage my time better, streamline my workflow and make sure to have dedicated work days but also have mommy-days to focus on my kids, myself, my husband and home.

If you are ever considering taking this workshop, I would highly recommend it!
Amelia and Justin are so genuine and their artistic point of view on wedding photography is soo inspirational!

Don't mind my junky iPhone pictures, I didn't take my big camera out once I was too busy observing!

Office closed and a few pictures...

I'm off to a wedding and its snowing and then I'm off to Vegas for WPPI, the biggest photography convention. I will also be attending my first Workshop with my favorite photographers! What does this mean for my clients?....It means I'm up-ing my game, striving to perfect my craft because photography for me is something that I can always improve and learn more about. I'm so thrilled to be learning from some of my faves and cramming my brain full of knowledge and business know-how to become a better photographer for my clients and myself! I will be out of the office until Friday, March 12th. I will try to answer emails as soon as possible.

I'm off to their wedding, they're cute, I know.

Pardon the mess and my 12x12.

Please don't mind the mess on my blog, it is undergoing a face lift/nip and tuck or a "Heidi" (Don't mind my late night/early morning jokes).
But you can take a look at the side bar----->
for my travel dates, if you would like to book a photo shoot or mentoring session. Just click the link or email me at info@kayleent.com

Also, we are looking for Class of 2011 Senior Reps/Models! If you know a current high school junior, have them fill out the application form to be considered!
Kayleen T. Seniors

Here is my 12x12 for January. What is a 12x12?? On the 12th day of every month you take 12 pictures. I'm not posting 12 pictures this month because both of my babies are sick and both of them have made a permanent home on my lap and have made my t-shirt their snot rag.... needless to say it has not been a productive week work-wise. So here is my 5x12!

You can join the 12x12 flickr group here.

Happy Birthday to My Baby Girl!

It was two years ago, today, that I said "Goodbye" to a stomach that was actually attached to my abs and "Hello" to my 10 lb 2.5 oz little girl! My little baby isn't a baby anymore, time has gone by too fast. She is my little artist, loves to read, Winner of America's Freedom Festival Cute Baby Contest!! (Woo-Woop!), attached-to-my-hip-UNLESS-you-got-the-car-keys-and-are-going-bye-bye-then-she's-attached-to-your-hip, always on the go, dancing queen, attitude-like-no-other, still sleeping in between mommy and daddy kicking them in the face, make-up and nail polish loving little girl! I love you sweetie with all my heart, thank-you for changing our lives!
